Who
Stroud Picture Projects, based in Stroud, Gloucestershire, is dedicated to promoting community-driven, socially engaged creative practices. The projects will focus on supporting a diverse range of local communities, including those who are under-resourced or vulnerable, by partnering with established community organisations, local arts groups, and more in Stroud and the surrounding areas. This includes collaborating with young people, the elderly, individuals facing mental health challenges, those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and others who may benefit from creative opportunities.
HOW
Stroud Picture Projects offers hands-on arts and photography workshops and events that use visual arts as a tool to engage, inspire, and foster creativity. These inclusive, collaborative workshops are designed to bring people together in settings where they can explore their creative potential, regardless of age, background, or prior artistic experience. The workshops are tailored to the needs of different communities, held in a variety of environments (schools, community centres, outdoor spaces) and includes both individual and group activities.
WHAT
The goal of Stroud Picture Projects is to provide opportunities for local people to take part in creative experiences that are both fulfilling and empowering. These activities promote well-being, enhance self-esteem, and nurture a sense of belonging within the community. By providing access to creative outlets, Stroud Picture Projects aims to increase personal confidence, foster collaborative working, and inspire positive change both for individuals and the wider community. The ultimate ambition is to help create happier, more connected communities where people feel valued and motivated to contribute positively to their surroundings.
